February is the month to celebrate not only love but friendship too. There is something about true friendships that gives us humans the power to keep on with life. Even the most solitary people need someone they can trust and share their adventures or their tragedies. They are essential in our lives.
We often think we all have friends and we usually never discuss this topic. It seems silly to talk about it, we all have our friends with whom we hang out and have fun. The ones we share our adventures with, go to parties and hang out with after a long day of work. But they might not be true friends, they may only be friends. True friendship is more than just having fun.
But what do we mean by true friendship? Well, you should be surrounding yourself with friends that bring positive thoughts and feelings into your life, friends who want what´s best for you, friends who will encourage you to follow your dreams. You should be able to be yourself and not have to pretend to be someone else just so you can fit in. A true friend is someone who will have the courage to tell you the truth, even though it may sometimes hurt, someone that will be by your side on your best days and in the worst ones. And no matter how much time or distance sets you apart, you will always have them in your life.
Many people say it is nearly impossible to find that kind of friendship, but what we don’t realize is what we need to do in order to find it. If you want to have good and real friends, you must learn how to be a good friend yourself. Other wise you won’t be able to find the true friendship you seek. You have to compromise to be positive and encourage your friends to follow their dreams, and the most important thing, you have to be honest. Without honesty you will only have false relationships that will bring you no good.
